Monday night proved to be one of the most exciting evenings I’ve had in a long time. I was bummed when the Daytona 500 was rained out on Sunday. I had planned my Sunday afternoon around watching it on my Direct TV Cary North Carolina and knew there was no way I could skip work to watch it at noon on Monday. Fortunately Mother nature was on my side and the race was postponed again until Monday night. Not only did I get to watch my race but got to see the Daytona 500 run under the lights! Boy was is a great race. The wreck at the very beginning was very unfortunate, taking out some good folks who had high expectations. While I was disappointed for them, it opened up things for some other drivers who might not have had as much of a chance, like Matt Kenseth who managed to win his second Daytona 500! He doesn’t get a lot of attention and I don’t think he’s considered one of the series’ top driers but the guy can obviously drive if he’s won what is arguably NASCAR’s biggest race twice.

The holidays are always better with cookies
Guest post written by Annabelle Forester
One thing that I've always loved about the holidays, besides all the time with loved ones, is the excuse that you have to make all of these amazing cookies. It's just really fun that way and I really love to bake so I always have an endless supply of cookies in our household.
My kids are always asking me to make a new kind of Christmas cookie, mainly because they know that I actually will make a new kind of cookie! I'm on the lookout online for new recipes for holiday cookies because I love to make new recipes of them too. While I was online looking for some new recipes a few weeks ago, I ran across some info on hearing aids. After I looked through it a little bit I decided to go and get a hearing test and get fitted with some hearing aids.
I found an amazing recipe for a peanut butter holiday cookie that I couldn't wait to try out! It has two of my favorite things, peanut butter and chocolate. You really can't beat that combination.

Completing our New York City trip with Billy Elliot
Guest post written by Peter Rogerson
I say that a trip to New York is never really complete without a trip to see a good Broadway play. i've been so many times over the years, but this was the first time that I was able to take my gradnkids with me. I've been wanting to take them on this trip for so long, so I was so relieved that it all finally came together and I was able to do it.
My grandkids are teenagers now, so I think that they were able to appreciate seeing all the sights and sounds better than say if they were 8 and 10 years old. I also knew that I wanted to take them to see a Broadway play while we were there, so I looked up discount ticket prices for plays online before we went. When I was looking that up, I ran across some miracle ear prices and after I thought about it for a little bit I decided to get some hearing aids before the trip.
I was glad that I got them when we went and saw Billy Eilliot because our seats weren't too close, but they say that any seat in the house is a good seat, so we just thought about it in that way.

Should they watch?
I appreciate the guest post, Ignacio Phillips
I’m first and foremost a mother and I’m having a bit of a hard time making a decision about something. My kids are wonderful and intelligent but I’m really afraid to let them watch the news and so far I haven’t allowed them to watch any this year! I just feel like all that’s ever on the TVBYDIRECT.com news channels is bad stuff about the economy or some war or something like that and I’m not sure that at such a young age it makes sense for my kids to be exposed to such negativity. I’ve tried to pull out some inspirational pieces from the paper for us to talk about as a family but they’re few and far between so I don’t really know what to do going forward. It’s tough living in a world where literally no news is good news and I wish sometimes that the age of information wasn’t quite as pervasive as it actually is. I don’t want my kids to watch it and to be honest, I don’t want to either!
